I have worked in publishing as a writer and editor for more than thirty-four years. My first publishing job was with the Texas Department of Public Welfare (Department of Human Services), as assistant editor of a quarterly magazine for child care workers. It was a new publication for the department, so I was able to help with designing the magazine format as well as writing stories, editing and proofreading. I discovered a love for publishing in that job. Through the years, That love was deepened as I worked as a handbook editor, copyeditor for a small book publisher, and editor for various trade publications serving gift retailers, Unisys mainframe computer users and the housing industry. My freelance clients have included The Texas Catholic, Jesuit Today magazine and Holt Rinehart textbook publishers. I also recently edited a memoir for Ron Hall, co-author of Same Kind of Different as Me.
